PALAPA offers women the option to wear handcrafted, artisanal sandals inspired by the rich history, tradition, and slow-paced life of Mexico’s tropics.
A quality-driven version of huaraches, the traditional Mexican footwear.
Palapa sandals are made with 100% sustainable leather, providing women the option to wear footwear with meaning that are not only beautiful but also soft, comfortable and ethically made. Palapa was founded on the principle to make the highest quality, versatile shoe that honors its Mexican heritage while becoming an everyday staple in the modern woman’s closet.
How they are assembled
Palapa sandals are mindfully assembled by hand in a 25-step process by highly trained cobblers in Sahuayo, Michoacán; a small town with a centuries-long shoemaking history. After the shoe is assembled it travels to Cojumatlán, Michoacán, a 20 minute drive from the factory, when a skilled women artisan weaves them from home. That means that each pair is woven by one single person making each pair of PALAPAS a one of a kind.
